New York: When posed with a question on the Kashmir clampdown during a joint presser with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, in an apparent sarcastic jibe US President Donald Trump asked the former that where did he find reporters like these?

Khan and Trump met on Monday on the sidelines of the 74th UN General Assembly where the latter offered to mediate again in the Kashmir issue if only the two sides accepted it.

At the presser, a Pakistani journalist asked Trump about his views on the Kashmir clampdown which was imposed after the Indian government revoked Article 370 that gave special status to the state, Trump replied: “Where do you (Khan) find reporters like these? These guys are fantastic.”

When the reporter described India as an “aggressor”, Trump said: “Are you from his (Khan) team? You are saying what you think… Very good question but let me put that one as a statement.”

Trump met Khan a day after he shared the stage with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in Houston.

The President is slated to meet Modi for bilateral talks on Tuesday.
