Life sentence to self-styled godman Rampal in second murder case

Self-styled godman Rampal Dass has been awarded life imprisonment in a murder case, reported news agency ANI. This was the second murder case in which the quantum of sentence was pronounced. In the first case, the quantum of sentence was given on Tuesday. Rampal has been in jail since November 2014.

A local court in Hisar pronounced the quantum of sentence on Wednesday against Rampal in November 2014 murder case.




The court had convicted Rampal and 13 others on October 11 for murder, wrongful confinement after a woman died during a two week standoff with Haryana police at godman Rampal’s Aashram in Hisar.

A court in Haryana’s Hisar town on Tuesday had awarded life sentence to Rampal along with 14 others for the murder of six people.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge D.R. Chalia, who convicted them on October 11, had awarded the life sentence to them.

The two murder cases against him relate to the murder of six people during violent clashes between his supporters and Haryana Police at his Satlok Ashram near Barwala town in Hisar district, around 245 km from the state capital.
