KANPUR | A horrifying case of road rage has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, where a minor motorcycle collision escalated into a brutal double murder on Sunday evening. What began as a heated argument after a slight accident quickly turned into a violent attack, as a group of men allegedly assaulted a father and his two sons with helmets and knives. The incident claimed the lives of the father and one son, while the second son remains hospitalized. The gruesome attack has sparked outrage and panic in the area.
According to reports, Shivnarayan Trivedi, a resident of Kidwai Nagar, worked at Kanak Marble in the Marble Market area along with his two sons, Shivam and Satyam. On Sunday evening, after finishing work, all three were returning home on a motorcycle, as part of their daily routine.
As they reached near the Yashoda Nagar bypass under the Naubasta police station area, their motorcycle reportedly had a minor collision with another bike coming from the opposite direction. Eyewitnesses said the incident initially led to a verbal altercation between the two sides. However, within minutes, the three men riding the other motorcycle allegedly lost control and turned violent.
The attackers reportedly surrounded Shivnarayan and his sons and first assaulted them with helmets. Before the victims could react, the assailants allegedly pulled out knife and launched a frenzied attack. Witnesses claimed that even people who attempted to intervene stepped back after seeing the extreme aggression displayed by the attackers.
As panic spread and screams filled the area, the three victims collapsed on the road in a pool of blood while the attackers attempted to flee the scene.
Police from Naubasta station rushed to the spot after receiving information and immediately shifted the injured to Hallett Hospital. However, doctors declared Shivnarayan Trivedi and his son Shivam dead upon arrival. Satyam is currently undergoing treatment.
One of the accused was reportedly caught by local residents while trying to escape and was handed over to the police. Authorities have taken him into custody and launched a search operation to trace the remaining suspects.
Kanpur Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said multiple police teams have been formed to arrest the absconding accused and necessary legal action is being taken in the matter.
