Woman kills father who tried to rape her, buries dead body in backyard pit

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested from Assam’s Biswanath district for allegedly killing her 71-year-old father when he tried to rape her, Hindustan Times quoted police as saying on Thursday. The incident had taken place in the house in Biswanath district where man and her daughter along with other family members lived.

The decomposed body of the woman’s father was recovered on Tuesday from a 15-feet-deep pit situated in the backyard of the house. The police have arrested the woman, an MA student at a local college and four of her family members in this case. While the woman has been charged with murder, four others including woman’s mother have been booked for concealing evidence.

HT quoted police as saying that the deceased had allegedly attempted to rape his daughter on March 3 this year which led to brawl that led to his death. The matter opened up when the family registered a complaint with the Biswanath Chariali police on May 11.

The police could corroborate the crime when they spotted a recently dug up a pit in the backyard of their residence. During interrogation, woman confessed to her crime.

Family members claimed that the deceased used to sexually abuse his daughter on a regular basis. However, Superintendent of Police Diganta Kumar Chaudhary was quoted by HT as saying that the case was being looked at from other angles including possible property related disputes.
