Ghaziabad | An obscene video allegedly shot inside the premium coach of the Namo Bharat Rapid Train operating on the Delhi–Meerut route has gone viral on social media, prompting swift action by the police.
The viral clip shows a young man and a woman allegedly indulging in obscene act inside the premium coach of the train. Taking cognisance of the incident, the police have registered a case not only against the unidentified couple but also against the train operator who allegedly recorded the CCTV footage on his mobile phone and circulated it on social media.
According to officials, the complaint was first lodged on December 22 by Dushyant Kumar, Security Head of DBRRTS (the maintenance agency), at the Muradnagar Police Station. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the unidentified man and woman under Section 296 (obscene act in a public place) and Section 77 (voyeurism) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, which deals with the transmission of obscene content.

Police officials said the incident was captured by the train’s CCTV cameras. The footage was allegedly recorded on a mobile phone by a train operator and later leaked on social media, leading to further legal action against the employee for misuse of sensitive surveillance data.
Earlier, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Masuri) Lipi Nagayach stated that the investigation is underway and efforts are being made to identify the individuals involved based on the video footage, following which further legal action will be taken.
The incident has raised serious concerns over passenger safety, privacy, and CCTV data handling in the Namo Bharat train system. The NCRTC clarified that CCTV footage is monitored only from the control room and assured that strict action has been initiated in the case of any leak or misuse.
