UP Power Theft News: Heavy Police Force Deployed for Surprise Checks in Sambhal

Sambhal | In a major pre-dawn operation on Monday, the Sambhal district administration launched a massive crackdown to curb rampant electricity theft. Starting at approximately 4:00 AM, the joint operation was led by District Magistrate Dr. Rajendra Pensiya and Superintendent of Police Krishan Kumar Bishnoi.

The raids targeted the Rayasatti and Nakhasa station areas which had been under surveillance following persistent complaints of power theft. The sudden arrival of heavy police force and administrative officials caused panic among those who were involved in power theft. Teams conducted door-to-door inspection to spot suspected illegal connections.

To ensure law and order during the drive, administration deployed Personnel from seven different police stations. Units of Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) were also present. A team of senior officials, including ADM Pradeep Verma, ASP Kuldeep Singh, and several SDMs and Tehsildars were on the spot.

During the investigation, several illegal bypass connections were identified. The District Magistrate directed the concerned departments to initiate immediate legal proceedings against the violators.

The administration issued a stern warning, stating that electricity theft will not be tolerated under any circumstances and that similar unannounced raids will continue across the district.

This follows a significant breakthrough on December 13, where a large-scale power theft network was dismantled. In that instance, officials discovered illegal "katia" (hook) connections spanning across rooftops, including those of residences and religious institutions. That very operation uncovered a sophisticated illegal "mini-power house" on a single rooftop that was distributing stolen electricity to nearly 250 to 300 households.
