Tamil Nadu records 771 new infections, death toll rises to 35

Chennai: As many as 771 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu over the past 24 hours and two Covid-19 patients lost their lives, the Health Department said on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Health Department said the new infections have taken the total tally to 4,829.

It also announced the death of two persons taking the death toll to 35.

The Department said 31 Covid-19 patients who got cured and were discharged from various hospitals taking the total number to 1,516 persons.

A total of 13,413 samples were tested over the past 24 hours.

State capital Chennai continued to see highest number of infections at 324 on Wednesday followed by Ariyalur (188), Cuddalore (95) and Kancheepuram (45).

The number of infected children in the age group 0-12 went up to 254.

The total number of active cases in Tamil Nadu stands at 3,275.
