Shah Rukh Khan stopped at Mumbai airport, made to pay Rs 6.83 lakh as penalty for carrying expensive watches

Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan landed in trouble soon after arriving at Mumbai airport on Friday night.

According to media reports, Shahrukh Khan was stopped at the Mumbai airport by the Customs Department. Reports stated that he and his associates were in possession of some expensive watches for which they were stopped at the airport. Shahrukh had to pay customs duty for these watches.

A report published in NDTV.in quoted sources as saying that Shah Rukh had to pay 6.83 lakh as customs duty. It was only after this that he was allowed to leave.

The report further stated that when Shah Rukh Khan and people accompanying him were leaving the airport, their luggage was checked. Multiple reports stated that empty boxes of luxury watches worth Rs 18 lakhs were also found in the luggage.

According to media reports, after the formalities were completed, the actor was let go but his bodyguard was stopped for questioning. He was allowed to leave only after being questioned.

Shah Rukh Khan had returned to the Mumbai airport after attending an event in Sharjah.

Shah Rukh Khan went to Sharjah to participate in the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022. At the event, he was honored with the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award for his contribution to international cinema and culture. Shahrukh returned to India by participating in this event.
