Police Seize 10,000 Kg Ammonium Nitrate in Major Explosives Bust

In a major operation, police in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district conducted a late-night raid on a farmhouse on Saturday and seized nearly 10,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, along with other materials used in the manufacturing of explosives. One person has been arrested in connection with the case on charges of illegal storage and trafficking of explosives.

According to police officials, the explosives were concealed in a house built on agricultural land in Sarhad Harsaur village under the jurisdiction of Thanwala police station limits. A senior officer said, “This is an extremely large consignment of explosives. If misused, it could have led to devastating consequences.”

The joint operation was carried out by the District Special Team (DST) and personnel from the Thanwala police station. During the raid, police recovered 187 bags containing 9,550 kgs of ammonium nitrate, along with a large quantity of detonators, fuse wires and other explosive components.

The arrested accused has been identified as Suleman Khan (58). Nagaur Superintendent of Police Mridul Kachhawa said the accused already has three criminal cases registered against him. A case has been filed against him under the relevant sections of the Explosives Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

An investigating officer said the accused is being interrogated to determine the source of the explosives, their intended use, and whether he is linked to a wider network. Police have not ruled out the possibility that the explosives were meant for use in illegal mining activities.
