VIDEO : ‘Mummy I love you so much..’ : injured DD video journalist in recorded video during Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh

A video journalist with Doordarshan recorded an emotional message for his mother when he and his team came under attack from Maoists in Dantewada on October 30. The video journalist is heard addressing his mother in the video that he loves her the most. The video has gone viral on social media with netizens throwing heaps of praises on him for his bravery.
“We have come under a terrorist attack. We came to Dantewada (Chhattisgarh) on an election coverage and army was with us. While we were going through a certain route, suddenly Naxalites surrounded us…”, video journalist Mor Mukt Sharma is heard saying in the video in the backdrop of indiscriminate firing.
“Mummy if I will stay alive, I just want you to know that I love you very much. It is possible that I may get killed in this attack. Situation here is not good. Don’t know why despite seeing death from close quarter, I am not fearing for life. It will be difficult to survive this. There are six to seven soldiers and we have been surrounded”, he is heard saying further in the selfie video which he shot.
Mor Mukt was among three member team of public broadcaster Doordarshan including cameraman Achyuta Nanda Sahu and journalist Dheeraj Kumar who had come to Chhattisgarh to cover the next month’s two-phased polls in the state. Sahu, a camerman of Doordarshan TV and two police personnel were martyred in a Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Tuesday.
A Doordarshan crew was moving with a security patrol for a story when they were ambushed in Aranpur area, Deputy Inspector General of Police P. Sundar Raj told the media here.
“Two police personnel died on the spot while a cameraman suffered grievous injuries and later succumbed to his injuries,” he added.
The slain police personnel were identified as Mangal Ram and Rudra Pratap Singh.
The attack came ahead of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. Maoists have asked people to boycott the polls.
