Mumbai : Model’s body found in suitcase, accused arrested

A 20-year-old youth was arrested in Mumbai on Monday for allegedly murdering an aspiring model. The deceased was identified as Mansi Dixit. Accused Muzammil Sayyed, strangled Mansi and stuffed her body in a suitcase and dumped it in Malad. The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the gruesome murder.

According to Mumbai police, Mansi who hailed from Rajasthan had come to Mumbai to pursue her dream of becoming a model where she met Muzammil through internet. The two reportedly became friends in a short span of time. On Monday afternoon, they met at an apartment in Andheri where an argument broke out between them over some issue. Muzammil hit Mansi with a blunt object and then strangled her to death.

“The accused stuffed the body in a suitcase and took a private cab from Andheri to Malad. Here he dumped the body in the cover of mangroves and fled from the scene”, Hindustan Times quoted a police officer as saying who requested anonymity.

The police could manage to arrest Muzammil on the basis of an alert by the cab driver who saw him dumping the suitcase and leaving the spot in some other vehicle. The police reached here in sometime and recovered an abandoned suitcase in which Mansi’s body had been stuffed.

The police have registered an FIR in this case and will be presenting the accused before a Metropolitan court on Tuesday.
