Thiruvananthapuram : Muslims across Kerala celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday with religious fervour.

Heavy rains, especially in the northern Muslim-majority districts, acted as a dampener, forcing the devout to hold the events indoors.

The chief priest at the Palayam Grand Mosque here addressed a large congregation, saying intolerance should be dealt only through tolerance.

In Kochi, superstar Mammootty along with his actor son Dulqar Salman attended a prayer session where they interacted with the locals.

The state government has declared a public holiday. All educational institutions and government offices remained closed.

Of Kerala’s 3.34 crore population , Muslims comprise 88.73 lakhs.
