New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday condemned the attack on Nankana Sahib Gurdwara, the birthplace of Guru Nanak in Pakistan, demanding that the neighbouring country take strict action against the people involved in the attack. He also stated that persecution of Sikhs there will not be tolerated by India.
On Friday, the Gurdwara was attacked by a mob while Sikh devotees were inside the shrine. The mob that had gathered outside raised communal and hateful slogans against the minority community and pelted stones at the shrine. Videos of the incident were circulated on social media.

“The attack on Nankana Sahib in Pakistan is a very cowardly and shameful incident. Nankana Sahib is the centre of faith of crores of people. The persecution of Sikhs living there cannot be tolerated. Pakistan should take strict steps and punish the perpetrators,” Kejriwal tweeted in Hindi.
The attack in Pakistan has triggered protests among Sikhs in India.
