India has approved Johnson and Johnson’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine for Emergency Use. This is the fourth vaccine to be approved by the Government.

Moderna had earlier received EUA (Emergency Use Authorisation), but its Covid vaccine is not available yet.

“India expands its vaccine basket! Johnson and Johnson’s single-dose COVID-19 vaccine is given approval for Emergency Use in India. Now India has 5 EUA vaccines. This will further boost our nation’s collective fight against”, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted on Saturday afternoon.

At present three anti-Covid vaccines – Covishield, Covaxin and Russia’s Sputnik are being produced in India. People are being vaccinated with these vaccines to raise a guard against Covid-19.
