JNU may conduct entrance exams online from next year
New Delhi : Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has formed a 12-member committee to change the mode of conduct of its entrance examination to “completely online”, a varsity note has revealed.
The committee, constituted by the Vice Chancellor, is required to submit its recommendations as early as possible.
“The Vice Chancellor has constituted a committee to discuss and make recommendation for conducting JNU entrance examination 2019-20 online.
“The committee shall examine various dimensions for making entrance examination 2019-20 completely online and submit the recommendation to the competent authority at the earliest,” the note of Joint Registrar to the university officials, issued on March 6, read.
An entrance test is required to get admission in JNU for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Ph.D. and M.Phil.
Besides making the entrance online, an informed source told IANS, the university is also mulling to go for multiple choice question pattern for the courses in social science — courses which are usually considered to require detailed exposition of concepts.
At present, the entrance examinations are conducted physically across centres, with some of them — those conducted for M.Phil and Ph.D and language courses — requiring a viva voce.
