International Media Conference 2018 inaugurated at DME
Noida : A three day international media conference on the subject ‘India and Changing Aspects of News (ICAN-2018)’ began at Delhi Metropolitan Education (DME) in Noida on Friday. The first international conference organised by DME was attended by eminent journalists, media academicians and experts from the field of journalism and mass communication who expressed their views on the changing aspects of news and media coverage.
Veteran journalist Mark Tully, through a video message, expressed his opinion and laid emphasis on the issues prevailing in media industry such as sensationalism and ownership.
The key note address was delivered by senior journalist Prabhat Shunglu who pointed out how the news landscape has changed over the years where media has changed from playing the role of watchdog to lapdog. He encouraged the budding journalists to be the catalyst of change and understand the difference between constructive and sunshine journalism.
Prof. Dr. Ambrish Saxena, advisory DME Media School, also expressed his views on the current and changing media scenario of the country.

During the conference, research scholars from countries like U.K, U.S.A, Australia, Nepal and Bangladesh, media students from across the country and faculty members of the institutes also presented their papers on the significant topics like ‘Issues of Women and Children’, Health awareness, Cyber-feminism, and cultural nationalism to name them few.
Senior media academician, Prof. Pradeep Mathur, in his speech gave tips to young media students to be open- minded and be lifelong learners.
National Programme Officer (UNESCO) Anirban Sarma, emphasised on media ethics, mainstream gender in media and safety of journalists.
Besides other dignitaries, internal dignitaries of the institute, Kiran Sahni (Chairperson), Aman Sahni (Vice Chairman), Justice Bhanwar Singh (Director General) and Prof Dr Bhavish Gupta (Director Officiating), Prof Dr NK Bahl, Prof. Azad Chhillar (HOD Management) were also present during the inaugural function of the conference.
