Huge Explosives Seized in Rajasthan: 150 Kg Ammonium Nitrate Found Hidden in Car

Tonk | The District Special Team (DST) in Rajasthan’s Tonk district has seized a large consignment of explosives from a vehicle following specific intelligence inputs. Acting on information that a car carrying concealed explosive material was travelling from Bundi towards Tonk, the police team set up surveillance in the Baroni police station area.

During the interception and search of the vehicle, officials recovered approximately 150 kgs of ammonium nitrate, which had been cleverly hidden inside urea sacks. In addition, 200 dangerous explosive cartridges and six bundles of safety fuse wire were seized. Each bundle contained around 183 metres of wire, taking the total length recovered to nearly 1,100 metres.

The DST arrested two individuals in connection with the seizure. They have been identified as Surendra, son of Bhanwar Lal Patwa (48), and Surendra Mochi, son of Dulilalji (35). Both accused are residents of the Karbar police station area in Bundi district.

City Circle Officer (CO) Mrityunjay Mishra stated that the operation was deliberately carried out in the Baroni police station limits as it provided a secure location to stop and inspect the vehicle. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the explosives were being transported from Bundi to Tonk. Authorities are now probing the source of the explosives, their intended destination and the purpose for which they were being moved.

Officials noted that ammonium nitrate falls under a high-risk category as it can be used for major blasts or other illegal activities. The DST is also examining whether the material was linked to any larger conspiracy or intended for unlawful mining operations.

In light of recent incidents involving the use of explosives in parts of Delhi and the Aravalli region, the case is being investigated with utmost seriousness. Police officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and assured that further details will be shared as more facts emerge.
