Gwalior Tragedy: 12 Killed as Uncontrolled Truck Ploughs Into Devotees Near Sheetla Mata Temple

At least 12 people were killed and several others injured after an out-of-control truck ploughed into devotees and roadside shops near the Sheetla Mata Temple in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior late at night.

The truck, which was loaded with paddy, reportedly broke through police barricades and sped down a steep slope before crashing into the temple’s outer wall and gate.

According to Gwalior Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dharmveer Singh, 39 people were taken to hospital following the accident. Of them, 12 have died, while five to six people, including two police personnel, are reported to be seriously injured.

The district administration has ordered an investigation into how a heavy vehicle entered a route where its movement was restricted. A team from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) has also been sent to the site to examine possible technical faults in the vehicle.

The injured are undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are expected to take further action based on the findings.
