A heart-touching story of humanity and unwavering love has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, leaving many emotional. On Wednesday night, a groom married his bride inside the ICU of a hospital and applied sindoor on her forehead while she lay unconscious on a hospital bed.
Accident Changed Wedding Celebrations into Anxiety
Pooja Yadav, a resident of Bansgaon, was set to marry Sunny Yadav of Mahua on May 13. Coincidentally, the same day was also the date of Pooja’s final LLB examination. While returning home after appearing for the exam, she suddenly felt dizzy and fell off her bike. She was riding pillion. She suffered a serious head injury and was rushed to a private hospital in Gorakhpur, where she was admitted to the ICU in an unconscious condition.
What was supposed to be a joyous wedding celebration soon turned into a moment of grief and uncertainty. However, groom Sunny Yadav and his family set an extraordinary example of commitment and compassion. The wedding procession still reached the bride’s village, and traditional rituals like the “dwar puja” were completed.
Later, around 1 a.m., Sunny arrived at the hospital along with a priest and a few relatives. After receiving permission from the hospital administration, the wedding rituals were performed inside the ICU itself. Sunny filled Pooja’s maang with sindoor while she remained lying on the hospital bed in her hospital attire.
A Story That Touched Everyone Present
Dr D.P. Singh of the hospital told the media that Pooja had suffered a head injury along with symptoms of sunstroke. However, considering the emotions of both families, permission was granted for the rituals to take place.
Pooja’s brother Aman became emotional while speaking about the incident. He said that in today’s time, many relationships break over minor issues, but the way Sunny and his family stood by Pooja during such a difficult moment was truly commendable.
Doctors, nurses, hospital staff and relatives present at the hospital all became witnesses to this rare and emotional wedding ceremony.
