Dalit forced to lick spit over interfaith marriage in UP’s Bulandshahr
A Dalit man in Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly made to spit and lick the same from the floor as a punishment after his son married a Muslim woman, reported news agency ANI.
The punishment was pronounced by the village panchayat. The man and his family was also asked to leave the village.
ANI quoted victim as saying that during a Panchayat meeting, he was asked to spit and lick the same because his son had married a Muslim woman. He also said that he was asked to leave the village.
He alleged that Panchayat said that his wife and daughter should be paraded naked.
SP Dehat Bulandshahr was quoted by ANI as saying that they have received a complaint and that the matter is being investigated into.
