New Delhi: With Congress deciding to corner the central government in the Parliament over the issue of Delhi riots, party leaders on Monday sought detailed discussion on the issue, demanding answers from no less than the Prime Minister.
While Rahul Gandhi demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah, Shashi Tharoor sought to fix the responsibility for the violence which erupted in northeast Delhi on February 24-25 claiming more than 40 lives.
Tharoor said, “Whose responsibility is this? Law and order comes under the central government. We demand resignation of the home minister.”
Tharoor added that the Prime Minister must answer in the Parliament over the violence.
“Where is the 56 inch chest of the prime minister? Why is he mum on the issue? So many people have died in Delhi and the prime minister is completely silent. He must answer in the House,” Tharoor demanded.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sbha has been adjourned after the opposition raised the issue of Delhi riots and wanted a discussion on the issue.
Earlier, the Congress and other opposition parties gave notices in the Parliament to discuss the Delhi violence. Government said that it is ready to discuss all issues as per rules.
