‘Carrying My Own Shroud’: Chilling Confession of Killer Who Executed Wife’s Lover in Busy Market

MEERUT | A chilling incident of broad daylight murder sent shockwaves through the Ramraj area under Bahsuma Police Station limits on Wednesday afternoon. Driven by a thirst for revenge over a long-standing personal feud and an alleged extramarital affair, a man identified as Pradeep shot and killed Surendra alias Sunil, in front of the Sanatan Dharma Temple.

The incident occurred around 1:45 PM while Surendra, a resident of Jagjivan Puri, was passing through the main market on his motorcycle. According to CCTV footage, a masked assailant lying in wait ambushed him from behind. As the first shot hit him, Surendra collapsed onto the road. The attacker then approached him and fired additional rounds at point-blank range into his temple. Though rushed to the hospital doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Preliminary police investigations reveal that the roots of the murder lie in a dispute dating back a year and a half. It is alleged that the deceased, Surendra, was in a relationship with Pradeep’s wife. Approximately 18 months ago, the woman had left Pradeep to live with Surendra, and the two eventually entered into a court marriage. Feeling deeply humiliated, Pradeep had reportedly vowed to eliminate Surendra as an act of retribution.

Shortly after the murder, Pradeep uploaded a four-minute video on social media. Referencing his Instagram handle, ‘Maut Ka Khauf 302’ (Dread of Death 302), he not only claimed responsibility for the killing but also openly challenged the police administration.

In the video, Pradeep is seen brandishing a weapon and declaring that he has finally exacted his revenge. He issued death threats against his wife and several police officers, stating that he is “carrying a 2.5-meter shroud” with him and has no fear of his own death.

Abhijit Kumar, SP (Rural) Meerut, informed media that a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family. The accused has been arrested.
