BSF kills Pakistani intruder on Punjab border

Chandigarh :  Border Security Force (BSF) troopers shot dead an intruder from Pakistan along Punjab’s border with Pakistan in the frontier district of Gurdaspur, a BSF spokesman said on Thursday.

The incident took place late on Wednesday night in the area of Border outpost Channa in Gurdaspur sector, nearly 280 km from here.

According to the spokesman, troopers at the outpost “observed suspicious movement of an intruder who crossed International Boundary and entered deep inside Indian Territory”, and challenged the intruder “but he did not pay any heed and kept on moving towards the Border Security Fence in aggressive posture”.

“Hence, sensing the threat and to stop his further misadventure, BSF troopers opened fire in self defence due to which the intruder (age approximately 35 years) succumbed to bullet injuries,” the spokesman added.

Punjab shares a 553-km long barbed wire fenced international border with Pakistan.
