BJP legislator from Gujarat caught on camera kicking woman, later says ‘Sorry’

A BJP legislator from Naroda in Ahmedabad was caught on camera kicking a woman who is heard screaming on the top of her voice. But nothing affected this legislator who continued attacking her until a man came from behind and tried stopping him.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media after which BJP legislator Balram Thawani has apologised. The woman who is a NCP leader was participating in a protest over water supply woes in Naroda in Ahmedabad.

The woman identified as Nitu Tejwani was also assaulted by supporters of Balram Thawani. The incident took place on Sunday.

Nitu told ANI that she had gone to meet Balram to apprise him about the lack of water in the area where he (Balram) came and started thrashing her.

“I had gone to meet BJP MLA Balram Thawani over a local issue but even before hearing me he slapped me, when I fell down he started to kick me. His people also beat up my husband. I ask Modi ji, how are women safe under the BJP rule?”, Nitu told ANI

 

She said that when her husband saw this, he came to her rescue.

She also said that Balram’s men thrashed her husband with sticks.

Balram meanwhile, said that he acted in his self-defence since he was attacked by someone from behind. But he accepted that his act was wrong and apologised.
