Lucknow: After ordering the suspension of former Kanpur DIG Anant Dev Tiwari for his alleged connivance with the slain gangster Vikas Dubey, the Yogi Adityanath government is now preparing to initiate action against 27 other officers who were posted in Kanpur.

The government is preparing for action, based on the report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that probed the role of the administration in the Bikru massacre that had left eight policemen dead on July 3.

According to Home Department sources, all the officers named by SIT are accused of negligence in matters related to arms license and land-related issues.

The list includes the names of ADM, City Magistrate, SDM, ACM, tehsildar.

Among other names, sources said that action has been recommended against Bilhaur revenue inspector, Lekhpal and other revenue officials who helped Vikas Dubey in land grabbing.

According to the information, instructions have been issued to their department heads to initiate a departmental probe in the matter too.

The infamous Bikru incident was reported from Kanpur district on July 2/3 when eight policemen were ambushed and killed by gangster Vikas Dubey and his men when the police team reached Dubey’s house to arrest him.

Dubey had later surrendered in Madhya Pradesh but was gunned down in an encounter as he tried to escape from a police vehicle while he was being brought back to Uttar Pradesh on July 10.
