Chandigarh :  Various commemoration events were organised on Friday in the areas falling under the Indian Army’s Western Command on the second anniversary of the surgical strikes across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said here.

“The second anniversary of the strikes are being held on September 28-30. Several events have been planned at the Hisar military station to commemorate the strikes and to showcase the gallant action of the Indian Army. This includes showcasing of weapons and equipment, live demonstration on the might of mechanised forces of the Army, motivational movie on the life of soldiers on the LOC and visit to war memorial by schoolchildren,” the spokesman said.

More events will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

After 18 Indian soldiers were martyred in an attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Uri in 2016, the Indian Army had retaliated by carrying out punitive strikes in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and killed terrorists on September 28-29, 2016.
