Agra youth livestreamed suicide act on failing to join Indian army
In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old youth commited suicide by hanging himself while live-streaming his death act on Facebook. The incident took place on July 11. The live-streaming went on for 37 minutes.
He was identified as Munna Kumar, a B.Sc graduate and a resident of Shanti Nagar in Agra. Munna posted a one minute long video on Facebook before eventually hanging himself. He was reportedly upset for not been able to join the Indian Army, reported The Times Of India.
He had appeared five times for entrance examination in a bid to join Indian Army.
Kumar’s family was taken aghast by the incident who told the newspaper that they had no idea that he was having suicidal thoughts.
In a six-page suicide note, Kumar mentioned that he had disappointed his family greatly by not cracking the Army entrance exam. He had blamed himself for not living upto the expectations of his parents.
According to the reports, more than 2,700 people watched the live video of Kumar hanging himself but nobody raised an alarm.
Munna’s younger brother Vikas said that hours before commiting suicide he was normal and that they had dinner together. He said that nobody in the family had any idea that he would commite suicide.
Vikas also said that Munna was very much inspired by the legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and had a deep wish of joining Army.
