New Delhi: A Delhi Court on Tuesday sent Haseen alias Salman to judicial custody till March 24 in connection with the murder of an Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer, Ankit Sharma, during the riots in northeast Delhi last month.

Haseen was produced before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Pawan Singh Rajawat amid high security at the end of his four-day police custody. The police had sought his custody for five days, which was denied.

Afsha Paracha, representing Haseen, told IANS that she will move a bail application on behalf of Salman after meeting him in jail.

Ankit Sharma’s body was found in a drain near his home in northeast Delhi’s Chand Bagh area on February 27, a day after he went missing.

Suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain was arrested on March 16 for his alleged involvement in the killing of Ankit Sharma. The police had told the court that everything was done on his command.
