Srinagar: Police said on Wednesday that the main accused in the looting of four rifles last year from the residence of a Congress legislator was arrested on Wednesday.

“An LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) militant who was the main accused in the looting from the official residence of the Congress leader here has been arrested,” a police officer said.

Danish Haneef was taken into custody from a private hospital in Srinagar where he was being treated for injuries sustained during a gunbattle in Pulwama district, the officer said.

In December 2018, militants looted four rifles from the Jawahar Nagar residence of Muzaffar Ahmad Parray, the Congress MLA.
