Court dismisses sexual harassment plaint against IPS officer
Lucknow, Jan 2 : A city court on Tuesday dismissed a sexual harassment complaint filed by a woman civil defence employee against senior IPS officer Amitabh Thakur.
The woman had alleged that Indian Police Service officer Thakur made sexual advances towards her and when she ignored him, he harassed her in multiple ways using work as an excuse.
The complaint was also filed against the officer’s wife Nutan Thakur and other personnel of the Civil Defence organisation.
In her order, Chief Judicial Magistrate of Lucknow, Sandhya Srivastava, said the complainant’s main allegations concern departmental matters and as far as the allegations of sexual harassment are concerned, they seem baseless.
She said that based on the statements of the complainant and the witnesses, and the documents produced before the court, it is clear that the complaint was filed in anger about the departmental actions taken against the woman.
Dismissing the complaint, the court said there are no grounds for summoning the accused.
