Massive Explosion Near Police Station, Windows Shattered, Blast Was Heard Upto 400-500 Meters Away

Solan | A loud explosion was reported near the Nalagarh Police Station in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday, triggering panic across the area.

The impact of the blast was so powerful that the sound was heard up to 400–500 metres away. Several nearby buildings suffered damage, with window panes shattering at multiple locations. The affected structures include the police station building, the ECHS Polyclinic (Army Hospital), the Market Committee office and the Sainik Rest House. In some places, walls were also damaged. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

The explosion occurred in a narrow lane close to the police station, prompting local residents and shopkeepers to rush out of their homes and establishments in fear. Witnesses said the blast was so intense that the ground shook and everything around them trembled.

Upon receiving information, police immediately swung into action and sealed the area. Barricades were put up to restrict movement. Baddi Superintendent of Police Vinod Dhiman and Nalagarh DSP Bhisham Thakur reached the spot to assess the situation. A forensic team was called in and has begun collecting samples from the site to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Police officials have refrained from drawing any conclusions at this stage. Preliminary assessment suggests that the explosion may have been caused by junk material or chemical residue, given that Nalagarh is part of a major industrial belt. Similar incidents have been reported in the area in the past. However, authorities said all angles are being thoroughly investigated.

Nalagarh-Baddi is a key industrial region housing numerous factories. With thousands of tourists visiting Himachal Pradesh during the New Year period, the incident has raised security concerns among local authorities and agencies.
