A giant python swallowed an Indonesian woman and her body was found in its belly. The body of 54-year-old Wa Tiba was found on Friday when the villagers cut open the 23 feet long python in the village of Persiapan Lawela on the island of Muna, offshore of Sulawesi, reported news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP).
AFP quoted local police chief Hamka as saying that the residents were suspicious the snake swallowed the woman, so they killed it, cut open the snake’s belly and the body of the woman was found inside.
The search for Wa Tiba started after she failed to return from her garden on Thursday night. She had gone to her garden to inspect corn plantation when she went missing.
The villagers had spotted the python lying about 30 meters from Wa Tiba’s sandals. This raised suspicion in the minds of villagers of Tiba having met an unfortunate fate. The serpent had first swallowed the woman’s head but her body was found intact.
