A 16 year old girl was allegedly raped and set on fire by her perpetrator of crime at a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. She succumbed to her injuries, reported News Agency PTI.

The incident took place in Khurai assembly constituency on Thursday evening, triggering sharp reaction from the opposition parties. The said assembly constituency is represented by Madhya Pradesh’s Home Minister Bhupendra Singh who blamed pornography for such incidents.

The police said that the accused Ravi Chadhar, who has been arrested, after sexually assaulting the girl had allegedly poured kerosene on her and set her on fire when she threatened to apprise her father about the crime.

According to media reports, Ravi barged into the girl’s house when she was all alone and sexually assaulted her. It was the girl’s younger brother who while playing outside the house saw smoke emanating from the home and alerted others.

Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath slammed the BJP and said on Twitter ‘One more innocent raped in Sagar’. He termed the incident to be brutal and henious.
