Women activists enter inside Taj Mahal mosque, offer Namaz

A few women of a right-wing Hindu outfit on Saturday offered Puja at the 400-year-old mosque in the Taj Mahal complex. The women according to The Times Of India lit incense stick and poured ‘Gangajal’ inside the premises. The video of this incident has gone viral on social media.

According to the police sources, as many as three women forced their way into the Taj Mahal premises and offered Puja. The women also carried water bottles filled with Ganga water, an official said.

District president of the outfit, Meena Diwaker said, “If Muslims are being allowed to offer Namaz on all days then why can’t we even offer prayer here.”

CISF Commandant Braj Bhushan told TOI that he had no knowledge of the incident. ASI officials said that they were cross-checking the authenticity of the video.

ASI’s Superintendent Archaeologist (Agra Circle) Vasant Swarankar told this english daily that they had sent the ASI staff on the spot but ‘Puja Samagri’ was not found there.

He also said that local police has been informed.
