With 88 more cases, Gujarat nearing 2,000; Ahmedabad at 1,248
Gandhinagar: Gujarat is now close to the 2,000 mark as far as the number of corona positive cases is concerned as Ahmedabad registered over 150 positive cases on Monday, a majority of these cases were detected in containment clusters following intensified testing. Gujarat now has 1,939 positive cases and 71 deaths.
Out of the total 88 positive cases found on Monday evening, Ahmedabad has 61 and Surat 25.
Gujarat is now a whisker away from 2,000 mark with a total of 1,939 positive cases found in the state. Ahmedabad continued to lead the state with maximum positive cases 1,248, followed by Surat 269, Vadodara 188, Rajkot 38, Bhavnagar 32, Anand 28, Bharuch 23, Gandhinagar 17, Patan 15, Narmada 12, Panchmahals 11, Banaskantha 10, Chotta Udepur 7, Kutch and Mehsana with 6 each, Botad 5, Porbandar, Mahisagar and Dahod with 3 each, Gir-Somnath, Kheda and Sabarkantha 2 each and Jamnagar and Morbi with one each.
“Out of the total 1,737 active cases, the condition of 1,718 is stable while critical 19 patients still are on ventilator,” said Jayanti Ravi, Principal Secretary, Gujarat Health Department.
Four were reported on Monday evening, all in Ahmedabad. Two females (63), (67) and one male (66), all with hypertension were admitted in SVP hospital, Ahmedabad and female (42) with no comorbidity admitted in Civil hospital died during the day.
Till date, out of the total 71 deaths, 38 people have died from the virus in Ahmedabad alone, followed by 10 in Surat, 7 in Vadodara and 4 in Bhavnagar.
A positive note during the day was that there were 25 positive patients after treatment who were discharged on Monday. A total of 131 positive patients after treatment have been discharged so far.
“In the last 24 hours, the health authorities have taken 4,212 samples for testing, where 196 have been found positive, and 4,016 negative. The total number of tests carried out by the health department till now is 33,316 out of which 1,939 are positive, 31,377 negative,” added Ravi.
The total number of people quarantined in the state is 23,749, where 20,199 are home quarantined, 3,303 in government facilities and 247 in private facilities.
Meanwhile, even on Monday, after three days of the Rapid Antibody Testing kits (RAT) arrival in the state, the health authorities seemed to be confused about their usage.
“The current kits which we have received right now are different from the earlier ones. The earlier kits showed detection of two bands, Immunoglobulins G (IgG) and Immunoglobulin M (IgM), whereas the recent kits show only one band. The quality is good but due to the difference, the results are inconclusive. We have ordered to carry out one test on pilot basis tomorrow at every place we have sent such RAT kits” added Ravi.
