Two firearm suppliers held with 28 pistols
New Delhi : Two gunrunners have been arrested on charge of supplying illegal firearms to criminals and their gangs in the National Capital Region, Delhi Police said on Tuesday. As many as 28 countrymade pistols were seized from them.
Salamuddin, 31, and Bhagat Singh, 41, of Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura and Rajasthan’s Bharatpur respectively were arrested on Monday evening on a tip-off when they went to east Delhi’s Indraprastha Park to hand over the semi-automatic pistols to their contact.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Pankaj Singh, who heads the Special Task Force (STF), had received the tip-off that the two purchased firearms from Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh and supplied these to criminals in the NCR-Delhi region, Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Ram Gopal Naik said.
The accused told police during questioning that they bought the illegal firearms for Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 and sold these to criminals for prices ranging between Rs 25,000 and Rs 28,000.
