Tremors felt in Delhi-NCR, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, J&K
New Delhi, Jan 31 : Tremors were felt in Delhi and the adjoining region on Wednesday. Himachal Pradesh was also rocked by a moderate intensity earthquake. Tremors were felt in most parts of Punjab and Haryana. People in Chandigarh also experienced the earthquake which lasted a few seconds. There was no loss of life.
Panic-stricken people rushed out of their homes and work places in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said there were no immediate reports of loss to life or property. The tremors lasted a few seconds.
The earthquake, measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, occurred at 12.36 p.m. and its epicentre was the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border, Meteorological Office Director Manmohan Singh told IANS.
The tremors were felt across the state including Shimla, Solan, Dharamsala, Kangra, Palampur, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur and Mandi.
