UP : Tigress crushed to death with tractor by angry villagers after she mauls a man

A tigress was beaten to death and later run-over by a vehicle after she attacked a man who later succumbed to his injuries. The shocking incident took place in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve area in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening.
The injured man who was shifted to hospital for treatment died later. This triggered anger in the people who took the cruel decision of killing the big cat. The deceased man was identified as Devanand.
This is the second incident in the country where a tigress has been killed. A 5-year old tigress, Avni, was shot dead in forested area in Maharashtra last week, brewing much controversy. Avni was believed to have killed 13 persons.
According to UP forest department officials, the villagers marched upto the protected area of the Dudhwa park, allegedly beat up the forest guard, then snatched a tractor and ran over the tigress.
Deputy field director of Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, Mahavir Kaujlagi told PTI that the carcass of the tigress has been found and the necessary legal action is being taken including lodging of FIR against the villagers.
