Three killed, dozen injured as fog blinds UP highways
Lucknow, Jan 1 Fog and poor visibility continued to wreck havoc on roads and highways of Uttar Pradesh for the fourth consecutive day on Monday leaving three dead and more than a dozen injured in two separate accidents across the state.
According to police, three persons, including two brothers, were killed in Billari in Moradabad when a speeding truck mowed down a bike.
The three, who died on the spot, have been identified as Satyendra Singh, Lal Singh and Rakesh Yadav.
In another incident, also due to fog and poor visibility, a state transport bus going from Lucknow to Mathura lost control and rammed into a truck standing on the road side near Karampur village in Auriyya district.
A dozen persons were injured. The injured were taken to a nearby community health centre where the condition of one is stated to be serious, while the others were discharged after first aid.
Vehicular traffic has been hit in a big way in most places, specially the city outskirts, national and state highways and also the roads leading to villages, while more than a dozen people have been killed in the past few days in road accidents because of fog and poor visibility.
