New Delhi:  In an obvious attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for targeting his late father-in-law Rajiv Gandhi, Robert Vadra on Friday said disparaging an assassinated prime minister to mislead people is “terrible”.

“Politics is at an all time low. Hitting out at our assassinated PM Sh Rajiv Gandhi to mislead the people of India is terrible. We, the family, will strive for his vision and the people of India will fight for his dignity and respect. It’s time for a respectful change in our country,” Vadra tweeted.

Vadra’s remarks came after Modi at a rally here on Wednesday accused Rajiv Gandhi of using aircraft carrier INS Viraat for a vacation for his family and foreigner in-laws when he was Prime Minister.

Modi’s charge was refuted by Admiral L. Ramdas, the Navy Chief at the time, who said Gandhi had gone on an official trip to the Lakshadweep islands to chair a meeting of the Islands Development Authority (IDA).

Modi, at a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh on May 4, also attacked Gandhi calling him “Bhrashtachari No. 1” (Corrupt No. 1).
