According to Hindustan Times, the girl had gone missing on August 24 and all efforts to trace her had proved futile.
The Baramulla police during investigation learnt that the deceased’s father has two wives. While one of the man’s wife is a local, the second wife is from Jharkhand. The deceased girl was the daughter of the latter.
SSP Baramulla, Imtiyaz Hussain was quoted by the daily as saying that during sustained questioning of girl’s step-mother and other suspects of the case, a bone chilling and horrible story of rape and brutal murder of this girl came to light.
He said that it was found that the woman had grudge against her husband’s second wife and her children.
It was on August 24, Fahmeeda (man’s first wife) forced her step-daughter to accompany her to the nearby jungle where she was allegedly gang-raped by the accused.
“The girl was then allegedly gang-raped by the accused in presence of her step-mother”, Hussain told the daily.
The SSP said that the girl was first raped by Kaiser Ahmad, 19, friend of her step-brother and then all others including her step-brother, 14, took turns to rape her. Thereafter, the step-mother strangulated the girl and her step-brother hit her head with axe which caused her death on the spot, he added. One of the accused in the case is Naseer Ahmad Khan 28.
He also told the daily that the girl’s eyes were gouged out and acid was poured over her body.
The police have managed to recover all the material and weapons including the axe and the knife used in the crime.
