Former President Pranab Mukherjee passes away, announces son Abhijit

Former President Pranab Mukherjee passed away on Monday evening. The news of his demise was confirmed by his son Abhijit Mukherjee.

“With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers, duas & prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You”, wrote Abhijit on Twitter.

He was  in hospital for last 21 days and was critical following a brain surgery.

Mukherjee was also found to be Covid-19 positive when he was admitted on August 10 for life-saving emergency surgery for a brain clot.

The veteran leader was admitted to the hospital at 12.07 p.m. on August 10 in a critical condition.
