One dead, two injured in post-poll violence, police camping at firing site

Chhapra | A violent clash broke out between two groups in Bihar’s Saran on Tuesday. The incident took place after the fifth phase of polling in Saran on Monday. The firing led to death of one person and two others got injured. Senior police officers are on the spot.

According to reports, there was ruckus at some polling booths in Saran. BJP workers had got agitated after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Rohini Acharya reached close to a polling booth. However, after this police had resolved the matter and claimed to have conducted a peaceful election.

The dispute escalated once again on Tuesday. Firing took place near Bhikhari Thakur Chowk in Chhapra in which one person died and two others got injured. One of the two injured has been referred to Patna.

A police officer said that there happened a dispute between RJD and BJP workers. Some people opened fire. Three people received bullet injuries. One of them died while two are admitted in the hospital.

He said that the police is camping at the spot. Tension is prevailing in the area.
