Modi presents Xi reprints of works by Chinese painter

Wuhan :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted Chinese President Xi Jinping reprints of two works by celebrated Chinese painter Xu Beihong.

Modi is in the Chinese central city of Wuhan to hold two-day talks with Xi.

Xu came to Shanti Niketan as the first visiting professor from China.

Titled the Horse, and Sparrows and Grass, the paintings were done by Xu during his stay at Shanti Niketan in 1939-1940.

These paintings were in the collection of the Vishwa Bharti and their single reprints especially commissioned by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations for the informal summit.

Rabindranath Tagore put an exhibition of 150 paintings by Xu in December 1939.
