Ranchi : Convicted RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav will spend one more night in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi and may be released on provisional bail on Wednesday, his lawyer said.
The Jharkhand High Court order regarding provisional bail for Lalu Yadav has not reached the CBI court as yet, the former Bihar Chief Minister’s lawyer, Prabhat Kumar, told IANS.
“The order copy of provisional bail has not been officially communicated to CBI court. We are hopeful that the court will communicate district court and Lalu Yadav may be released on Wednesday,” Kumar said.
Lalu Yadav returned to Ranchi on Monday after attending his elder son Tej Pratap’s marriage on May 12.
Apart from a three day parole to attend the marriage in Patna, Lalu Yadav was also granted six weeks provisional bail by the Jharkhand High Court on May 11 for treatment.
Lalu Prasad was admitted to RIMS in Ranchi on March 17 following complaints of uneasiness when he was lodged at the Birsa Munda Jail. He was also sent to AIIMS, New Delhi for treatment.
He has been convicted in four fodder scam cases since 2013 — the latest being the Dumka treasury case in which a special CBI court sentenced him to 14 years in jail.
