Inquiry against Alok Verma be completed in two weeks: Supreme Court

The Supreme Court on Friday said that an inquiry into corruption allegations against CBI Director Alok Verma should be completed in two weeks.

The Supreme Court on Friday appointed one of its former judges, Justice A.K. Patnaik, to supervise the inquiry into the allegations against CBI Director Alok Verma while giving to two weeks time to the CVC to complete the probe, reported news agency IANS.

The apex court made the observation while hearing a petition filed by Verma against the Centre government’s decision to send him on leave. He was represented by eminent lawyer Fali Nariman.

CJI Ranjan Gogoi ordered that the new CBI director M Nageshwar Rao will not take any  policy decisions till Supreme Court hears the matter again.
