India’s Statue of Unity visible from Space, See Picture

Commerical satellite network ‘Planet’ has tweeted a picture of ‘Statue of Unity’ photographed from Space on November 15. ‘Statue of Unity’ was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31 in the honour of country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Naramada district of Gujarat.

The Statue of Unity stands tall at around 600 feet (182 metre) and is touted to be the world’s tallest statue. It is nearly twice the size of the height of US’ Statue of Liberty at 305 feet (93 metre).
Statue of Unity was designed by Padma Shri & Padma Bhushan recipient Ram Vanji Sutar. He had also created the Mahatama Gandhi statue at the Indian Parliament.
Construction of Statue of Unity was completed in 33 months with a whopping sum of Rs 2,989 crore.
