Gorakhpur doctor Kafeel Khan gets bail from Allahabad HC

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Dr Kafeel Khan, the prime accused in the death of the dozens of children at the BRD medical college in Gorakhpur last year. Dr Kafeel had to spend over seven months in jail before getting the bail.

According to News18.com, the single bench of Justice Yashwant Verma granted bail to Dr Kafeel. Dr Khan’s family had applied for bail on six different occasions in the past seven months. He was booked in connection with death of children due to lack of oxygen at Gorakhpur’s BRD Medical College. He was charged under sections 120-B, 308 and 409 of IPC b the office of DG Medical Education.

Dr Kafeel was head of the encephalitis ward and an assistant professor at the paediatrics department. He was removed from the post of the nodal officer at the National Health Mission after the mass death of the children at BRD medical college.
