Fuel prices continued to surge on the 16th consecutive day with petrol being sold at Rs 78.43 per litre in Delhi and Rs 86.24 per litre in Mumbai, on Tuesday.

The cost of diesel per litre has also increased and is being sold at Rs 69.31 per litre in national capital and Rs 73.79 a litre in Mumbai.

Following steep rise in the prices of petrol and diesel, the centre government has come under sharp attack from the opposition.

Costly petrol and diesel prices have upset the budget of the common people, burning a bigger hole in their pockets.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier assured the public that the government will soon take out a solution to tackle the situation.

Recently, Pradhan had said that the centre government has been considering bringing petroleum products under GST.
