Former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra on Saturday joined the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Mishra who was also the minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government alongwith AAP women’s wing chief Richa Pandey took saffron party’s membership.
Duo was welcomed into the party by BJP national vice president Shyam Jaju and Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari at the party’s office.
Earlier this month Kapil Mishra was disqualified by Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel under the anti-defection law. He had campaigned for BJP during the Lok Sabha elections in May this year.
But Mishra has challenged his disqualification in Delhi High court.
Kapil had won Karawalnagar assembly seat on AAP ticket.
Mishra’s joining BJP did not come as a surprise to many especially AAP leadership for the fact that he had been critical of party supremo Arvind Kejriwal when he was removed as a Minister in 2017.
